Entire Ukrainian family killed in Russian drone strike, officials say

An entire family - a married couple and their two young sons - have been killed in an overnight Russian drone attack in Ukraine's north-eastern Sumy region, local officials have said. Regional head Oleh Hryhorov said a residential building was hit in the village of Chernechchyna. The bodies of the two children, aged four and six, and their parents were later recovered from the wreckage. Ukraine's air force said its units shot down 46 out of 65 Russian drones across the country - but there were 19 direct hits in six locations. Russia's military has not commented.

The northeastern Ukrainian border region of Sumy said parts of its territory had lost television and radio signal on Thursday after Russia launched a mass overnight drone attack that damaged communications infrastructure. The attack with 36 drones hit four cities in Sumy region and television facilities in neighboring Kharkiv region, officials said, suggesting Moscow was trying a new tactic of striking at communications more than two years into its full-scale invasion. "As a result of the damage, part of the territory of the region (temporarily) cannot receive Ukrainian television and radio signal," the region's administration said in a statement on Telegram messenger.


Death toll rises to 10 in Russian drone strike on Ukraine's Odesa

The death toll from a Russian drone strike that destroyed an apartment block in Ukraine's southern port city of Odesa on Saturday has risen to 10. Ukraine's interior ministry reported that rescue workers on Sunday morning retrieved the remains of an infant and the baby's mother, raising the number of children killed in the attack to three. "The mother tried to cover the 8-month-old child with her own [body]. She tried to save them. They were found in a firm embrace," the ministry said in a Telegram post. On Saturday, Ukrainian authorities reported that a baby was among those killed after falling debris from an Iranian-made Shahed drone hit the apartment building – one of eight Russian-launched drones reported by officials.
